In late April, construction associates from around the organization attended the 4th Annual Virtual Opus Safety Awards.
Josh Babiasz, Director of Safety Management, hosted the program and thanked everyone for keeping safety first. Before announcing the winning project, Josh shared the overall performance metrics for Opus associates that included zero lost-time incidents or recordable incidents.
With outstanding achievement in establishing and maintaining a safety first approach onsite, the team for River Road Logistics building 1 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, received the safety award. The project team either met the baseline standard in all categories or went above and beyond, including conducting and documenting safety inspections more than weekly and collecting safety documentation from all subcontractors onsite.
“Their success with preconstruction meetings with almost every subcontractor onsite, including all high-hazard work, really pushed them to the top," Josh said.
The project team, which stayed the same throughout the project, included the following associates:
- Mike Liden, Superintendent
- Tim Schmidtke, Field Coordinator
- Michael Anthony, Project Executive
- Jeff Smith, Vice President of Construction
- Shannon Harden, Project Coordinator
Congrats to the River Road Logistics team!
Work on the second building recently started with planned completion in August.
