Opus Adds to UnitedHealth Group’s Footprint in Minnetonka
To accommodate its growing business needs, UnitedHealth Group enlisted Opus to develop, design and construct a LEED Gold certified office building extension to its Minnetonka, Minn. headquarters.
Designed by Opus AE Group, L.L.C. and HGA, the 10-story, 354,000-square-foot office building features a smooth limestone façade and unique window placement that complement the rusticated limestone and punched window exterior of the headquarters building.
Creating Environmental Efficiencies with Sustainability
Sustainable design features include the building’s east-west orientation, high floor-to-floor heights, off-perimeter private office locations and stepped lighting control systems that take advantage of daylight to reduce electrical consumption.
Creating and On-Campus Community
The office building development is surrounded by an exterior patio adjacent to the cafeteria to provide an outdoor dining and break area. Sidewalks with covered arbors connect the development to the wooded walkway and water feature adjacent to the existing headquarters building.
Other building features include:
- a first floor common area,
- a fitness center,
- a cafeteria,
- a convenience shop and
- a conference center.
