Dedicated to “the development of self-esteem, values and skills for boys and girls, ages five to 18,” the
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City is an important part of the community, especially in Olathe, where the organization recently opened its newest unit.
Megan Garner and I attended the organization’s annual meeting late last month. There, we were honored to accept a Club Champion award in recognition of “on-going service and support to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City.”
Our office has really enjoyed being able to volunteer with the kids who attend the Club’s programs. During our annual United Way campaign last fall, we helped with homework and played games with kids in the afterschool program. We enjoyed it so much that we overran our prescheduled time!
In late September, I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Olathe Unit when it became a year-round unit. Funding from the Opus Foundation® helped with the establishment of this year-round program in Olathe.

Community stewardship is at the core of our organization and has been a pillar of our organization's history from the beginning.
