The Opus Group (Opus) today announced Kelly Baker, executive vice president and chief human resources officer of Thrivent, has been elected to its board of directors.
Thrivent is a Fortune 500 diversified financial services organization with $162 billion in assets under management and advisement, and total revenue of $9.4 billion. In her role at Thrivent, Baker is responsible for the teams that provide strategic human resources advice and enterprise support for talent acquisition, benefits and compensation, organizational design, diversity and inclusion, and workforce culture and effectiveness.
“Kelly brings a valuable combination of expertise and perspective to the Opus board, including as a CHRO, public board member and strategic business leader. Her people-centered approach and track record of visionary leadership are just part of what makes her a great fit to further advance our goals and vision for the future," said Bob Underhill, chair of the Opus board of directors.
The Opus board of directors includes business and industry experts, as well as family members of Gerry Rauenhorst, who originally founded the business in 1953. It provides strategic guidance and supports responsible practices in many areas, including financial controls and audits, conflicts of interest, enterprise risk, investment management, corporate responsibility, board and leadership team composition, succession planning and executive compensation.
Prior to joining Thrivent in 2021, Baker was executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Pentair. Previously, she served in various roles at General Mills, including vice president of human resources for the U.S. Segment. She also led Global Diversity & Inclusion at General Mills, strengthening diverse representation among the company's leaders.
Baker earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Howard University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business. She currently serves on the Ferguson PLC board of directors and as a board member of the Children's Theater Company of Minnesota and The Blake School.
