Milwaukee Office of The Opus Group Gains National Recognition

12/8/2010
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Milwaukee office of Opus Development Corporation (Opus), a full-service design build and development firm, and affiliate of The Opus Group, recently received national recognition from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) for work completed on The Shoppes at Fox River in Waukesha, Wis., and regional recognition for Zilber Hall on the Marquette University campus.

Opus was honored with a national Design-Build Merit Award in the “Private Sector – Over $25 million” category for the The Shoppes at Fox River project, at a recent DBIA awards dinner held in Las Vegas, NV.

In addition, Opus received an honorable mention in the “Educational Over $10 Million” category for the work completed on Zilber Hall, an administration and student services building on the Marquette University campus, in the first annual DBIA – Great Lakes Region (DBIA-GLR) Design-Build Project Awards.

“We’re honored to receive these recognitions from the Design-Build Institute of America,” said Julie Ledger, director of project management for Opus Development Corporation. “The awards are a testament to our unique design-build approach and the value it brings to our clients and developments.”

Located on the site of a former grocery distribution center in Waukesha, The Shoppes at Fox River is a 55-acre retail development that will contain more than 500,000 square feet of gross leasable area when complete. The project is currently home to anchor tenants Target and Pick ’n Save (the regional grocer’s first LEED-silver store), as well as several national retail brands and restaurants, including Petco, Famous Footwear, Chili’s, CVS, Verizon, Game Stop and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Zilber Hall is a 130,000-square-foot facility that consolidates many offices that were once scattered across Marquette’s campus. Located on Milwaukee’s busiest thoroughfare, the four-story building creates a new front door and hub for the urban university. The building combines the university’s traditional aesthetic of Collegiate Gothic architecture with the latest sustainable features that enhance energy efficiency. The building is LEED-certified.

In Wisconsin, the Milwaukee office of Opus Development Corporation, an affiliate of The Opus Group, is one of the leading full-service design build and development firms. The Milwaukee office of Opus Development Corporation has developed hundreds of projects and tens of millions of square feet of space since operations began in 1972.
