Mission at Work: Delivering a Living Room for Downtown Overland Park
We collaborated with our client to deliver a mixed-use complex in the Kansas City suburb.
At Opus, we state our mission in terms of our clients' goals because they are at the center of everything we do. It's not just what we do, it's who we are. We are driven to exceed your expectations and empower your mission through the buildings we deliver.
Overland Park, Kan., is a busy bedroom community that has experienced a significant amount of development and construction over the last decade. With the concept of placemaking in mind, Edison District's visionary co-founders wanted to create a community space with events and activities and office space placed among new multifamily developments in downtown.
The result was the five-story, 125,000-square-foot building with office space; Strang Hall, a unique food hall with chef-driven restaurants; an outdoor event plaza and a 400-car parking garage that truly met the co-founder's desires.
“The mission of Edison District is to create a puzzle piece in a community of redevelopment. My vision for our contribution to downtown Overland Park was effectively just that: a living room for the redeveloped community."
