The Opus Group (Opus) announced today the completion of its Union Tempe mixed-use apartment development in Tempe, Ariz. The development, located on the edge of the Arizona State University campus, encompasses 850,000 square feet, including 407 apartments, 31,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and 767 parking spaces in the podium structure.
“We believe in Tempe, and we're excited to bring this dynamic new project to the city and the Arizona State University community," said Larry Pobuda, executive vice president and general manager, Opus Development Company, L.L.C. “This project highlights the innovation which has become a trademark of Arizona State University, and we're proud to be part of the community."
Union Tempe is comprised of two residential towers, a 20-story tower and 12-story tower, connected by a fifth-floor amenity deck, which includes a resort-style pool and spa, private cabanas, multiple outdoor gathering areas, fire pits, barbeque and dining areas as well as a shaded dog run. Residents can also take advantage of a clubroom, located on the same level as the amenity deck, which has a demonstration kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, an indoor fitness center and outdoor yoga and Pilates area. The development also contains a dog wash as well as indoor bike storage for 384 bikes, including an area for residents to repair and maintain their bikes.
The mixed-use development features 407 apartments that offer residents the choice of a wide variety of floor plans ranging from studio to four-bedroom apartments. All offer a contemporary living experience with high-end amenities, such as nine-foot ceilings, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, premium cabinetry and private balconies with outstanding views of the surrounding area. The development also includes an on-site parking podium with 767 parking stalls for both residents and public use.
The ground floor retail and restaurant space contains a 3,000-square-foot Starbucks, Insomnia Cookies and Nekter Juice Bar. The development will also include two restaurants – Tocaya Organica, a modern organic Mexican restaurant, and Sauce Pizza and Wine. Additional retailers will be announced in the near future.
The project is owned by a joint venture partnership between Opus Development Company, L.L.C. and Greystar Real Estate Partners. Opus Development Company, L.L.C. is the developer and Sundt Construction, Inc. is the general contractor. Opus AE Group, L.L.C. was the architect and structural engineer of record with SmithGroup, JJR as a design consultant on the project.
