Expansion & Renovation at Progress Valley Treatment Center Starts
Announcing plans for a two-building renovation and expansion with Progress Valley.
MINNEAPOLIS (June 10, 2015) – The Opus Group (Opus) announced today plans for a two-building renovation and expansion project with Progress Valley, Inc., a nonprofit chemical health treatment service provider based in Bloomington, Minnesota.
“Progress Valley is an impactful organization and its unique services require safe, efficient and welcoming facilities,” said Jeff Mertens, senior project manager, Opus Design Build, L.L.C. “We’re honored to offer our expertise as Progress Valley continues to grow and transform its facilities so that it may serve more individuals who need their help most.”
Progress Valley has provided gender-specific recovery services for adults with chemical dependencies since its founding in 1972. The two-phase project will expand Progress Valley’s existing Richfield, Minnesota facility by an additional 5,000 square feet and convert 23,000 square feet of existing space in Bloomington into residential and office facilities.
“Progress Valley works each day to make the necessary improvements to best support our clients throughout their recovery journeys,” said Susanne Lambert, executive director, Progress Valley. “With Opus’ help and support, we’re able to move forward on ensuring two spacious and beautiful facilities for the men and women we serve.”
In Phase I, Opus will help Progress Valley convert a newly-acquired building in Bloomington from light industrial and office space to a new treatment facility for the organization’s Women’s Program, including 13,000 square feet of residential space for clients and 10,000 square feet of office space for staff. Opus will also update kitchen and break room areas and add fitness, art and media rooms as well as small and large meeting spaces.
In Phase II, Opus will manage a 5,000-square-foot expansion of Progress Valley’s 8,000-square-foot Richfield facility to create additional bedrooms, a computer lab and library and additional community rooms. Planned improvements also include the addition of an elevator and handicap accessible accommodations throughout. This facility will serve as the new home for Progress Valley’s Men’s Program.
Construction of Phase I began in May 2015 and will be completed in September 2015. Phase II will begin in October 2015 and will be completed in March 2016. Opus Design Build, L.L.C is the design builder and Opus AE Group, L.L.C. will be the architect of record.
In addition to this project with Progress Valley, Opus Design Build, L.L.C. and Opus AE Group, L.L.C. are currently working with Twin Cities RISE! on a 10,700-square-foot warehouse to office space conversion in Minneapolis and Normandale Lutheran Church on a 19,000-square-foot renovation project in Edina, Minnesota.
