The Opus Group® Announces Completion of Construction at Creighton University

​OMAHA, Neb. – The Opus Group (Opus) announced today the completion of renovations and building additions at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, creating a new home for the university’s Heider College of Business.

As part of the project, Opus remodeled five buildings across the campus and supported moves for more than one dozen departments.

“This project was an exercise in collaboration and coordination that speaks to our strong relationship with Creighton University,” said Craig Larson, regional vice president of Opus Design Build, L.L.C. “There were a significant number of departments moving during the multi-phase project, so the timeline was a top priority, and we successfully delivered the project on schedule.”

Originally completed in 2008, approximately one-third of the 220,000-square-foot Harper Center was remodeled to house Creighton’s Heider College of Business. Renovations included creating a new entryway and lobby by adding a glass curtain wall enclosing the rotunda, as well as incorporating casual seating for students to collaborate in an informal setting. A new signature classroom with glass walls is visible from the lobby. The high-tech, circular classroom showcases flat panel TVs, a digital display stock ticker and the latest stock trading terminals.

“Relocating the Heider College of Business to a prominent building on campus was not only a smart business move, it provides the college additional visibility and a larger academic footprint to recruit students,” said John Wilhelm, vice president for administration, Creighton University. “The facility creates an enhanced active learning environment for students to succeed in their academic interests.”

The project was completed in late 2013.
