Opus Design Build, L.L.C. Selected to Build STEM Center for Visitation School

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - ​Opus Design Build, L.L.C. announced today that it was awarded a contract by Convent of the Visitation School to design and construct a new 4,000-square-foot Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) building at the school’s campus in Mendota Heights, Minn.

This project is part one of a two-phase renovation for the school. In additional to the STEM center, Opus will design and construct a new main entrance along with additional classrooms, study and gathering areas, referred to as the Heart of the School.

The STEM building will serve as workshop and assembly space for the school’s award-winning robotics program as well as engineering classes. The industrial-type space will feature concrete floor, work benches and a machine shop with state-of-the-art equipment. Additional office and classroom space will also be constructed. Concurrent with the work for the STEM building, an 1,800-square-foot expansion to the school’s dining area will be constructed.

Construction on the STEM building began in September 2012 and completion is scheduled for January 2013. The Heart is slated for completion during the 2013-14 school year.

Opus AE Group, Inc. will serve as the architect for the project while NELSON will manage interior design.

In addition to this project with Visitation School, Opus Design Build, L.L.C. is currently working with Real Estate Recycling to construct a speculative 90,000-square-foot office and warehouse facility in Brooklyn Center, Minn.
