The
Opus Foundation (Foundation), the charitable foundation for
The Opus Group (Opus), announced today the award of grants totaling $138,205 to 14 nonprofits in 2019 in support of work in
Iowa and surrounding areas.
Recipients of grants included:
- Freedom for Youth Ministries (Des Moines) – $50,000 for Freedom Construction Services, LLC - Remodel (exterior updating)
- Project IOWA (Des Moines) – $40,000 for a data-driven expansion
- Anawim Housing (Des Moines) – $5,000 grant as a 2019 Building Community Award Finalist
- Balance Autism (Altoona) – $5,000 for Children's Autism Project - CAP Center in Clive
- Beyond Ball (Urbandale) $5,000 for mentorship program
- Blank Children's Hospital (Des Moines) – $5,000 for STAR Center Foster Care Clinic Hope Closet
- Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity (Des Moines) – $5,000 in recognition of Opus associate volunteer efforts on Founder's Day
- Handicapped Development Center (Davenport) – $5,000 for HDC Enterprises
- Meals from the Heartland (West Des Moines) – $5,000 for Hunger Fight
- St. Thomas More Center and Catholic Youth Camp (Panora) – $5,000 for Youth Leadership Retreats
- The Ames Foundation (Ames) – $5,000 for Edwards Neighborhood Park Improvements
- Amarillo Habitat for Humanity, Inc. (Amarillo, TX) – $1,500 in support of the Iowa State University Student Chapter of ASCE's Collegiate Challenge
- United Way of Central Iowa (Des Moines) – $1,705 for in support of 2019 workplace giving campaign
This year's grant recipients have a number of diverse missions and causes, including workforce development, fighting hunger, early childhood education, community park improvements, youth development and community revitalization.
