The Opus Group (Opus) has appointed Jay Ramos as senior director, real estate development. In his new role, Ramos will be responsible for advancing development opportunities in the markets served by Opus' Phoenix office.
“We are excited to have Jay join our Phoenix team," said Larry Pobuda, executive vice president and general manager for Opus. “Jay brings a deep background in finance and capital markets as well as a solid understanding of the multifamily market."
Prior to joining Opus, Ramos was vice president of multifamily development for Leon Capital Group, where he was responsible for all multifamily development functions from initial site identification to the sale of the asset. Previously he was managing director of multifamily investments for Mark-Taylor where he gained extensive operational knowledge of multifamily product beyond development. He also held managing director and vice president roles for CBRE & BBG, Inc., and began his professional career as an associate director for UBS Investment Bank. Ramos is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War.
“I appreciate Opus' commitment to growing its portfolio in the Phoenix region, particularly in the multifamily sector," said Ramos. “I have gained tremendous respect for the way Opus develops, designs and constructs multifamily projects that add vibrancy and character to communities, as well as the vertically integrated model with inhouse development, design and construction collaborating closely on projects."
Ramos most recently managed a multifamily pipeline of 1,000+ units in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area, including Soltra at SanTan Village in Gilbert, a 380-unit garden-style project completed in 2022, and Soltra Kierland, a six-story podium development with 210 units in Scottsdale to be completed in early 2023.
Ramos has a bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Arizona Multifamily Association, National Association of Industrial & Office Properties and the National Multifamily Housing Council.
