The Opus Group (Opus) and Tire Wholesalers Company Inc. (TWI) announced today that TWI has pre-leased a 275,401-square-foot industrial building currently under construction at the former Detroit Artillery Armory site in Oak Park, Mich. On Tuesday, June 14, Opus, TWI and the City of Oak Park held a celebration at the construction site located at 15100 Eight Mile Rd.
TWI is a regional tire distribution company currently in Troy, Michigan. Slated for completion by the end of the year, the building will be Tire Wholesalers' new headquarters and distribution center.
“We are excited to be developing a modern industrial building on this prime infill parcel in Oak Park while helping Tire Wholesalers bring their vision for the future to life," said Mike Robinson, senior director of real estate development for Opus.
“Our business has grown considerably in the past five years," said Tire Wholesalers' Founder Ross Kogel Sr. “We are excited to join the Oak Park community and grateful to move to a larger headquarters where we can further update our warehouse technologies and logistics systems."
“This a welcomed development for the City of Oak Park as it creates additional job opportunities and adds to the City's tax base," said Oak Park City Manager Erik Tungate. “To have the former armory site built out is a long-time dream realized and we are so excited to have such successful and community-minded businesses make this dream a reality."
Opus is the developer, design-builder, architect and structural engineer of record.
