We're excited to announce our fifth MNSHARP Construction Certification for The Loden in Edina, Minn. Construction began in the fall of 2017 with completion this month.
The
Minnesota Safety and Health Recognition (MNSHARP) program was started in 2006 by the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA). It “recognizes companies whose managers and employees work together to develop safety and health programs that go beyond basic compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and result in immediate and long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses."
We were the first to receive a MNSHARP Construction Certification and the first to receive two certifications. We have received MNSHARP certifications for
Oxbo Luxury Apartments, our redevelopment of Nicollet Mall (The Nic on Fifth®, Xcel Energy @ 401 Nicollet and 365 Nicollet), Excelsior Crossings and Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management.
I was proud to be able to speak at the flag raising ceremony and proud to recognize the achievement here.
We've remained on track to consistently improve safety. This certification and those that came before it are a testament to our focus and success. While we received these recognitions in Minnesota, they reflect the same work and focus on Safety First that we employ nationwide. Our goal is to meet or exceed OSHA standards for safety and health on our jobsites. In fact, while OSHA recently launched a
Safety Walk-Arounds for Managers program, we implemented our program last year that includes required quarterly project audits and toolbox talks by our senior leadership.
During the flag raising ceremony, I took the opportunity to recognize the project team that has made this certification possible. To the vice presidents, project managers, associate project managers, superintendents, safety professionals, seven general foreman, 30 subcontractors and 200 people who participated in onsite safety orientation who made this all possible and who focus on putting Safety First, I want to say another thank you. Although the results speak for themselves, I want to say that I'm very proud of the commitments you've made and the continued focus on putting safety first!
At Opus, the safety of our associates and the general public is a priority on all of our projects. Promoting a safe work environment is an important part of our corporate culture. Learn more.
