Following the topping out on Minneapolis’ The Nic on Fifth® earlier this month, Verve, a 10-story, 285-unit luxury apartment building in downtown Denver, is also reaching the same milestone!
On Thursday, November 21, the project team celebrated the completion of the concrete structure with an appreciation lunch. Around 300 construction workers and employees were in attendance at this milestone event, including Opus leadership and representatives from Amstar, our project partner.
Including 4,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level, Verve will offer close proximity to Union Station, Cherry Creek Trail and the popular LoDo District and LoHi neighborhoods.
Some interesting facts and highlights about the project so far:
- To date, the project has taken 19,669 cubic yards of concrete, 1035 tons of rebar, 4200 studrails and 616,100 pounds of post-tensioning cable.
- Piers were placed starting in October 2012 with the structure completing this month.
- After an extremely difficult excavation and shoring system installation, consisting of underpinning, internal bracing and soldier beam and lagging system, the team reached the bottom of the excavation and completed deep foundations in January of 2013.
- The team reached grade 100’-0” in April 2013.
The project is scheduled for completion in June 2014.
