Centralizing Logistics Through New Warehouse Facility
To supplement Hewlett-Packard’s existing warehouse in Des Moines, Iowa, Opus designed and constructed this 301,000-square-foot industrial warehouse facility adjacent to the current warehouse. An enclosed, heated link was built, attaching the two buildings together for forklift traffic. The connection of the two buildings allows for a consolidation of Hewlett-Packard's national logistics operations to one central location.
The warehouse serves as a third-party fulfillment site and processes orders for a number of Hewlett-Packard’s clients. The facility contains space to accommodate more than 42,000 pallet positions and is equipped with a wire guidance system to facilitate product movement.
The facility features 25 dock positions equipped with levelers, dock locks and shelters with potential to add 20 positions in the future. The interior includes build-out of approximately 7,500 square feet of office space.
To accommodate future growth, the built-to-suit facility was designed to allow up to 75,000 square feet of expansion.
