Experience

Jay started his architecture career in 2004 primarily working on office and institutional projects and joined Opus in 2012. His creativity and ability to problem solve while making teamwork a priority has contributed to many successful outcomes in his career.

When presented with a difficult site containing multiple obstacles within a tight urban setting for the 19Nineteen Mile High Apartments in Denver, Colorado, timely collaboration and redesign were required. Due to the project’s location and arrival sequence being less than desirable, Jay was tasked with creating an atypical solution where the lobby was on the back of the building tying to a local greenway in addition to, meeting progressive City standards for the street frontage. This responsive solution and his design leadership provided the needed value for the project to be financed and as a result, successfully delivered on time.

Jay is a valuable asset in championing the growth of his team members, and as noted by Dean Newins, President & CEO of Architecture & Engineering, his passion for mentoring and inspiring others extends to his positive, cheerful interactions with clients and project stakeholders. Jay demonstrates this with his ability to build relationships in cities such as Denver where he partners with our development team members to garner support for underutilized sites in the heart of the City. By nurturing relationships across many jurisdictions, these difficult projects can be approved and provide significant value to clients, users and cities.
