Jim Erwin

Best known for his authenticity and practical approach, Jim is an industry veteran with a proven track record of delivering high-performing projects that exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the design-build construction operations for Denver and Phoenix
  • Leads the construction team working on projects across multiple sectors, including industrial, residential, institutional, office and retail
  • Oversees project design and construction activities from conception to activation
  • Proactively identifies potential issues with schedule, quality, clients, associates, vendors and subcontractors, and collaborates with all team members to implement effective resolutions
  • Leads and demonstrates a commitment to a Safety First work environment for all team members through development and reinforcement of safety best practices that meet or exceed industry standards
  • Develops short- and long-term plans for the growth and development of our design-build construction teams
  • Actively promotes and supports a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment on projects

Experience

Jim started his career in commercial real estate in 1993 – the same year he joined Team Opus. Since that time, he has been responsible for the construction of more than 17 million square feet of commercial real estate. Annually, Jim oversees projects in excess of $100 million in the Denver and Phoenix markets.

With broad oversight for projects from conception to activation, Jim has vast experience in preconstruction planning and construction operations. His creative thinking and problem-solving skills have contributed to the successful completion of many complex projects that have stood the test of time.

As a leader of projects and people, Jim has a reputation of being firm but fair. He is consistent and sets the bar high for his teams, while creating a supportive and collaborative work environment. These qualities, coupled with his extensive knowledge and ability to motivate others, have made him a model leader and led to successful results on many high-profile projects, including U.S. EPA Region 8 Headquarters (Denver, CO), Gavilon World Headquarters (Omaha, NE), Sun Empire (Aurora, CO), Ari on Fourth Apartments (Tucson, AZ) and Andersen Windows Manufacturing – Goodyear (Goodyear, AZ). Over the years, Jim has mentored many associates, sharing his deep knowledge and developing the next generation of leaders.
