Experience
Matt joined the industry in 2017 gaining experience with a general contractor in Des Moines, Iowa, where he primarily oversaw government projects for the VA and USDA before joining us in 2021. As project manager, Matt uses his collaboration and problem solving skills to achieve strong results on every project. He manages the unforeseen challenges that may occur in projects and leads discussions with the appropriate parties to determine outcomes that meet the needs of the schedule, budget and client goals.
Winfield United, located in Wichita Falls, Texas, is a prime example of Matt demonstrating these strengths. Due to the owner having a significant amount of existing equipment required for reuse at the new facility, he assisted in orchestrating the relocation of the equipment through coordinating layouts of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to ensure all required systems were in place once moved in. To achieve this, design calls, photo reviews of existing equipment, dimension coordination and determination of load requirements were all completed. Additionally, he coordinated the design of a new catwalk and concrete containment system for the client's bulk storage tanks. Matt's efforts were highly praised by the client and allowed the owner to begin operations quickly after project turnover due to all the proper infrastructure needed for equipment hookup being in place.
While working on Nordeast Business Center in Minneapolis, Matt worked closely with the civil engineer upon finding the site had a large surplus of excess earth material. Rather than proceed with having the excess material hauled off, which would've resulted in a significant project cost increase, he collaborated to review several options for redesigning retaining walls and changing grading around the building to have the excess material distributed on site. This dedication to problem solving resulted in a successful solution that provided cost savings to the overall project.
When away from the office, Matt enjoys staying busy by golfing, snowboarding and traveling.
