Experience
Tom began his career with us in 1994. He has direct experience in retail, lab, industrial, cold storage, office and multifamily projects, totaling over 7.6 million square feet and over $770 million in contract value. Since Tom took the helm of our construction group, they have over $2 billion in work in place. He has many skills that lead to excellence in his role, including relationship building, leadership, collaboration, commitment and strategic thinking.
Of the many highlights of his career, Tom is most proud of Stadium Village Flats. It was a new market for us (wood-framed multifamily) and was launched coming out of the great financial crisis. Tom fostered an entrepreneurial spirit that allowed the team to take ownership for the project’s success. The team embraced the spirit, and although they did a lot of unconventional things, they also delivered a successful project.
Tom is a firm believer that we need to see things as they are, not as we wish them to be. He brings that outlook to all discussions. Whether that is good or bad, the team is better off recognizing the challenges that need to be overcome for what they are.
Throughout his career, Tom and the teams he has led have received a lot of positive feedback. A financial partner was so impressed with the team’s expertise and success that he encouraged us to become more active in the other project types they invested in.
