Story
Building Distinction and Dignity
To serve its growing needs, the Opus team was selected to design and construct a new office for the Federal Department of Transportation to house the General Services Administration.
Located in Lakewood, Colo., the new 128,000-square-foot, three-story office building was designed to embody distinction and quality by incorporating a glass-walled main entrance. At the same time, the architecture reflects the dignity, enterprise, vigor and stability of the United States government.
The main entrance and lobby serve as an extension of the building’s exterior and act as a transition into the interior space. Granite floors are joined with stately interior wall finishes, including wall fabric, wood paneling, gypsum board with reveals and granite wainscot.
Incorporating sustainable construction practices, the building achieved LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council.
